Who Is John Proctor's Reputation Before Each Other
Those that are the most concerned about reputation can be dangerous to society. A poem called
“One Train May Hide Another” relates to one of the various themes of The Crucible. Reverend
Parris worries about the danger of his reputation. Parris is aware that his niece had an affair with
John Proctor, and as well knowing that witchcraft has taken place in his home. Due to that
Situation Parris goes against Proctor; “Excellency, since I come to Salem this man is blackening
my name.” (108) This quote dictates to a line of the poem displaying how one will ruin one’s
reputation before their reputation is ruined. “And one’s reputation may hide the reputation of
another.”
