Exploitation of Capitalism
The Communist Manifesto discusses about the history of class struggles in societies. Karl Marx visualizes history by focusing on the development and destructive events of the dominant class called the bourgeoisie. They organized society to a feudal order by aristocratic landowners and corporate guilds. With the discovery of America, the economic markets start to expand a new class, manufacturing class, control of international and domestic trade by producing goods more efficiently. Eventually, the proletariat would lead a revolution against the bourgeoisie. The final struggle would lead to the overthrow of capitalism and its supporters.
In the book of The Communist Manifesto, Marx said that “No sooner is the exploitation of the labourer by the manufacturer, so far, at an end, and he receives his wages in cash, than he is set upon by the other portions of the bourgeoisie, the landlord, the shopkeeper, the pawnbroker, etc.” Marx explains that the employer is just one bar of the cage of capitalism, and that other members of the bourgeoisie your landlord, the grocery store owners, and more are on bars. The majority of workers performed unskilled or semi-skilled machine work but some worked in industries that demanded heavy labor. Many workers lost their jobs due to facing pay cuts and new employees found the discipline and regulation of factory work to be different from other types of work. Workers had to perform one task repeatedly and strictly regulated because the employees are responsible to be flexible and offered within a variety of tasks. However, factories had poor conditions because it has lack of effective government regulation which led to unsafe and unhealthy work sites. The exploitation of the worker won’t be ending anytime as long as the workers’ pay goes to other companies. For example, Immigration has been a long-running issue in history especially today due to law restrictions in United States. One of the issues that immigrants felt exploited from living the U.S. region is that immigration policies intended to not allow employers from hiring undocumented workers because they don’t have papers or any kind of resources to show proof that they’re U.S citizens. But the reality is that the majority of undocumented workers can’t stand up for their rights because they’re afraid that their employers will retaliate by contacting the police or law enforcement to sweep them away.
