Who Is Levana's Character In The Lunar Chronicles?
Isn’t it the worst when a series ends and you are left wishing you could learn more about the characters? Over the last two weeks, I have read Fairest by Marissa Meyer and Stars Above, also by Marissa Meyer. These books are extras of The Lunar Chronicles, and tell you the past and futures of the characters in the series. I have finished both books; Fairest is 220 pages, and Stars Above is 369 pages. Fairest is the backstory of Queen Levana, who is a character in The Lunar Chronicles. Levana has a painful backstory, filled with fear, hurt, longing, and a need to be loved. Her sister, Channary, forces her to burn her face and arm in a fire at the age of three and torments Levana, making her feel unloved and unimportant. When Levana is older, …show more content…
Solstice believes that Levana is in need of a friend, so she tells her husband to befriend Princess Levana. As he tries to learn who Levana is and tries to become her friend, Levana convinces herself that Evret’s interest in her is love. After Levana forces Evret to marry her, he tries to find out who Levana really is, since he is married to her until death do they part. Levana refuses to show Evret what she looks like underneath her glamour for the first ten years of their marriage, believing he cannot love her after he sees her scars, and she believes her glamour is what she looks like, so it doesn’t matter what it is hiding. “’This is it,’ she said, as new tears started to leak from her good eye. ‘The truth that I didn’t want you to see. Are you happy now?’ His blinks were intense, and she could imaging how difficult it was for him to hold her gaze. To not look away, when he so clearly wanted to” (Meyer 192). When Levana finally shows Evret her scars and the truth beneath her glamour, she realizes that it is to late, that he has stopped searching and that he has never loved her and never will. This ends her search for love, turning her evil. The last search I found while reading was in the book Stars Above, also by Marissa …show more content…
She doesn’t remember her past, so she is trying to find out whom she is while also trying to fit into a new life as a cyborg and with her new family. Cinder is trying to find her purpose and what he is good at. She wants to be normal and fit in with her family, but has to come to terms with the fact that she will never be normal and fit in. “’Your stupid awards aren’t going to keep food on this table, and now you’ve brought home one more mouth—and a cyborg at that!’ … ‘We have our own girls to think about. I can’t even afford new shoes for Pearl, and now there’s this creature in the house who’s going to need… what? A new foot every six months?’” (Meyer 63). In this passage, Adri is yelling at Garan, her husband because she doesn’t like Cinder and is upset that Garan has brought her home. This is one of the big reasons for Cinder’s search for

I read the book Cinder by Marissa Meyer. This book is the first book of The Lunar Chronicles. The most interesting part of the book was that the author put a lot of twists and turns at the end. My least favorite part of the book was when the main character, Cinder, had witness her stepsister’s death. The author wanted us to learn do not judge from the outside but judge what is on the inside. I like this book because the author puts twist on the Cinderella story. Other student would like this book by how the story is in the future. My question, ’’Is she going to escape?”…

For a story’s relationship, whether it involves lovers, siblings, or parents and children, there is one similarity hidden beneath the facades that make up each story; love. The characters involved make drastic changes to their lives in order for their relationship to survive. Throughout many of the tales, the protagonists succumb to the pain of love and the disappointments that may come along with it. In the “Lai of Milun”, the characters suffer greatly in hopes of one day achieving a fulfilled relationship, but their perseverance is rewarded in the end. Although Milun and his mistress…

One day, when Leona was walking back home, she saw lots of people on a vacant lot, planting on their own little gardens. However, there was too much trash, so she decided to call the government to take care of all the garbage. Evidently, identity of every person can be integrated by breaking through its imposed silence and finding a language of self-utterance. As we have already seen, Cordelia is an active character and Elaine disregards all signs of her, either by destroying her or by covering her so that she cannot be seen. More convincingly, her removal is not easy for Elaine because Cordelia exists in her consciousness and becomes a part of her identity. As said before, Elaine has a dual identity, which is composed of Elaine’s and Cordelia’s identities. Significantly, these two parts can lead to white and dark, positive and negative, Angel and evil sides of her character.…
