The Windigo is a spirit used to scare children. Often, parents would tell their children not to stay out too late or the windigo would get them, and stuff like that. The Windigo in Three Day Road can relate to a few things...such as the war itself; the war could/has the capability of stealing the soul of civilized men, making them monsters. You could relate this one to Elijah, seeing as he is the one who becomes consumed by the morphine and becomes completely bloodthirsty. The Windigo could also propose a threat to Xavier, since he is basically dying through the novel. You could say the Windigo is literally eating him alive, making him miserable and making him suffer for having left his home, killing many men and so on…

As Napier said, in Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind, Hayao Miyazaki has the strong attitude of hating some human actions that destroy the nature. He thinks that the relationship between human and nature cannot be solved, as long as the population continues to flourish, the destruction of nature action will continue to repeat. People always want more, so they will keep moving on in such a stupid action (2006).…

Nature has an overall effect on the culture and attitude of Janie because nature was her life, anything that she did always had some type of connection to her spirituality and nature. “We all know God never lets us down, that he is utterly reliable and consistent. The Bible teaches that God is immutable; unchanging in his nature, character and purpose” (Kandiah 2). The spiritual aspect of the novel also ties in with nature because nature was personified as God going against Janie, Teacake and Motorboat. “The wind came back with triple fury, and put out the light for the last time. They sat in company with the others in other shanties, their eyes straining against crude walls and their souls asking if He meant to measure their puny might against His. They seemed to be staring at the dark, but their eyes were watching God” (Hurston 160). When faced with a natural disaster in the magnitude of a hurricane does man feel humbled at his smallness in the face of God. The characters realize that their free will can’t stand against His will. Janie took caution when dealing with certain people and situations, showing that she was down to earth and into nature. “Naw it ain’t it’s nature, cause nature makes caution. It’s de strongest thing God ever made, now. Fact is it’s de onliest thing God ever made. He made nature and nature made everything else” (Hurston 65). The hurricane represents the destructive fury of nature. As such, it functions as the opposite of the pear tree and horizon imagery: whereas the pear tree and horizon stand for beauty and pleasure, the hurricane demonstrates how chaotic and capricious the world can be. The hurricane makes the characters question who they are and what their place in the universe is. Its impersonal nature, it is simply a force of pure destruction, lacking consciousness and…

According to Nietzche, "The world is beautiful, but has a disease called man." This means that the world is clean and beautiful before man was created because they are destroying it. This is true because of all the pollution and war that are causes of man. Also the Night by Elie Wiesel, It’s about the Germans and the consecration camps and what they did to the Jews. After reading this research article, the results did not come as a surprise: the idea that military may have an impact on our personality just seemed logical if one believes that societal factors have an effect on personality change. Nonetheless, it is actually a great and important step in actual research by being one of the first scientific study to provide data on life experiences influencing personality changes. For the nurture vs nature debate that is constantly present in the field of psychology, this gives evidence for gain of cause in regards to the nurture side: experiences may indeed really matter for our personality characteristics, and probably as much as our biological conception…

Anaya’s grandfather says this to Anaya when he comes home as a young boy having been badly bitten by ants while working out in the fields. Literally, Grandfather means “watch where you are going/standing,” or “pay better attention.” Figuratively, Grandfather means this in a more philosophical sense; he is telling young Anaya to learn to pay attention to the world around him so that he can avoid danger. Specifically, he means to pay attention to the Earth (nature) because, unless you show it respect, it can become unfriendly. Even nature’s tiny ants can become hostile and, when working as a community, can become threatening.…
