babbling at many times and arguing in a child-like manner. Richard’s inner child also has other troubling effects due to his schizophrenia. Many times, Richard will believe that his toys are trying to hurt him causing him to scream and cry like a child. Richard is also scared of the dark and cries whenever he’s in a dark room. Also, he tends to cry for his mother at several occasions and believe she’s in the cell with him, even though she passed away years ago.
To continue, Richard also portrays a strong sense of narcissism.
Narcissism is when a person has an inflated sense of self-importance. Out of all the people in the asylum along with Richard, he believes that he’s the most important. Although there are many chronics similar to him, Richard believes he is the man. He quickly will lash out on someone who tries degrade him and will fiercely acknowledge that person about how important he is. Richard also sometimes believes that he’s God claiming that he flies around in his cell. He frequently will ask for extra food or other things because of how he believes he’s God. The narcissism has led to many problems with other patients. For example, Richard thinks that since he’s God, he’s allowed to do anything he wants with these patients. He will often steal their food or even do things worse than that when he catches them alone. Since he claims he’s so handsome and perfect, he’ll lure these patients in and sexually harass
them.
Finally, Richard also is extremely passive-aggressive. When asked to do a task, Richard will begin to find an excuse or procrastinate from it. Ever since Richard was a child, his parents began to notice odd behaviors. Richard would always subtly hint things that he does or doesn’t want to do. For example, back when Richard was a kid and used to go to camp, his parents told him it was time to go. Richard, who’s scared of displeasing his parents, would say, “I GUESS we can leave now…” His parents would then ask if he’d like to stay longer and he’d only stay if they agree. These odd behaviors allowed doctors to diagnose Richard as someone who’s passive-aggressive. Even at the asylum, Richard will not agree to doing something unless the other person agrees.
To conclude, that is a brief history and background information on Richard Hade. He’s a schizophrenic who portrays his inner child directly, is a narcissist, and is passive-aggressive. Richard has been in a mental asylum almost all his life and it’s predicted that he will for the rest of his life. Doctors have claimed he will forever be a chronic. Thus, that is a brief history and background information about Richard Hade.
