The threat of death is constant, but the show excels at using character deaths to propel story arcs and explore the residual effects a character’s demise has on the overall story. Because of the writers’ emphasis on character development, The Walking Dead must continuously seek out exceedingly talented actors to fill their roles. In 2012, the show won a Satellite Award for best cast. Cast members lucky enough to make it from the shows inception to the end of the current season have a multitude of awards and nominations to show for their endeavors. Melissa McBride, Chandler Riggs, and Andrew Lincoln have won awards for Best Performance by a Younger Actor in a television series, Best Supporting Actress on television, and Best Actor on television, respectively. Amongst themselves, these three actors have a combined total of thirty-one nominations and fifteen awards for performances throughout their careers.
