Who Is To Blame For Romeo And Juliet's Death

In Romeo and Juliet, by William Shakespeare, two young lovers face challenges brought to them by their parents, that ultimately led to their deaths. In the play, Juliet’s parents, the Capulets, do not allow their only child to marry the person she loves. Instead, they force her into marrying a man which she does not know. If it were not for the wrongdoings of the Capulet parents, Romeo and Juliet would not have died.
One reason why capulet parents were guilty for the death of Romeo and Juliet is that the capulets parents did not care for the happiness of their daughter. For example, Capulet tells Juliet “disobedient wretch, I tell thee what, get thee to church a’ Thursday” (3.5.161-163). This shows that Capulet forced his daughter into marriage with a man which does not love. Juliet loved her husband Romeo, but Capulet did not allow his daughter to be with anyone besides Paris. This led to the deaths of Romeo and Juliet because Capulet tries to force Juliet into marrying a stranger.
Another reason that supports that Capulet parents are at fault is that they forced Juliet to marry Paris.
For example, Juliet tells her parents “I will not marry yet; and when I do, I swear it shall be Romeo, whom you know I hate, Rather than Paris” (3.5.121-124). Juliet tells her mother, lady capulet, that she’d rather marry her most hated enemy than marry Paris. Despite her sayings, the capulet parents are stubborn and do not care for their daughter’s wishes. This leads to the death of the two lovers because, Juliet feels cornered and devises a plan with Friar Laurence leading to the death of Romeo, and Juliet soon after.
