Who Is To Blame For The Cold War

The Cold War developed slowly between the United States and the Soviet Union, as both nations were fighting for control of the postwar world. This cold war was a war of words with lots of tension. These two nations were on the same side during the war but after the war they began to grow apart and not trust each other. The United States and the Soviet Union had different beliefs as to where the world should go in terms of government and economics. This caused big problems for the two nations. These two nations were in an arms race to see who could build the biggest and best nuclear weapons. Both the United States and the Soviet Union were at fault for the Cold War. The Soviets wanted to spread Communism after the war while American’s wanted to spread democracy ideals.
To prevent the United States from being influenced by Communist ideas so they set up a containment policy to keep the Soviets Communism from expanding.
Americans were prepared and working hard to make sure Communism did not become favored in the United States. The Soviet Union, however, wanted Communism to be the type of government for every nation. Even though both nations were to blame they were also praised for not letting the Cold War spread and get out of control. In the earlier years the Soviet Union was blamed more than the United States because no other nation wanted a communist government but they were still trying to make it spread. Now more people blame President Truman and the United States because President Truman tried so hard to make the Soviets look like the bad guys. In the end the two nations got so involved and so heated that it led to a “Hot War.” This could have been avoided if both nations worked harder to come to an agreement about the postwar
world.
