Who do you believe is truly to blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet? Explain and defend your position in at least 3 well written paragraphs with examples from the entire play. I believe many people are to blame. The first person to blame would be Friar Laurence. He married Romeo and Juliet in the first place. Some characters who are more commonly blamed are Romeo and Juliet themselves. With their headstrong personalities, and love, which seemed so sure, they had in fact condemned themselves. Romeo was the first to promote the relationship at the Capulet's party. It was a case of 'love-at-first-sight' for him, so he felt obligated to seek Juliet at her balcony,…

Who is really to blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet? In "Romeo and Juliet" by William Shakespeare the main characters, Romeo and Juliet fall victim to an untimely death. Friar Lawrence is someone that Romeo trusts very much so therefore his love, Juliet trusts him just as much. So they take all of his advice as the best option for them to be able to marry and be together for the rest of their lives. But he doesn't always give the best advice or complete his tasks. Therefore Friar Lawrence should be punished for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet because he takes advantage of their trust and fails on his own tasks that could influence the couples lives.…

Not only the Nurse and Friar Lawrence was at fault for the death of Romeo and Juliet but also Capulet. This is because of his actions towards Juliet and his character. His character changes from being a nice, polite and caring father whereas after the death of Tybalt, he becomes this angry typical type father. Not knowing how Juliet truly feels, he forces her to get married to Paris even though she didn’t want to. He made her feel pressurized and also made her feel scared of what was going to happen next. He made her feel trap like she doesn’t have a choice to weather to marry him or not. Therefore, he should also be blamed for the death of Romeo and Juliet.…

There are many things that lead up to the character’s untimely deaths in this sad story, but there is one character who truly made this story as devastating as it was. In the play “Romeo and Juliet” written by William Shakespeare I blame the reason for their tragedy on Friar Laurence. In the play the Friar married Romeo and Juliet to each other and didn’t inform the Capulet's nor the Montague's. The Friar also tried to help Juliet by giving her a sleeping potion so she wouldn’t have to marry Paris. He also failed to deliver the letter to Romeo saying that Romeo didn’t die, but she was in fact sleeping. “I could not send it here it is again nor get a messenger to bring it thee so fearful were they of infection” (Shakespeare 470). Lastly the Friar had blamed the two lover's death of Romeo and Juliet when both the Capulet's and Montague's had heard of there passings.…
