When he arrives they are making a potion to conger apparitions. Macbeth talks to them and the witches tell him a riddle and he is so convinced of the outcome that he is no longer worried about Malcolm and his army. Malcolm is one of Duncan’s two sons that fled Scotland when their father was killed because they feared for their own lives. Malcolm went to the king of England and asked for soldiers to get his father’s throne back. It isn’t until the end of the play that he realizes that the witches tricked him into a false security. Malcolm and his army capture his castle and he goes out fighting with Macduff. Macbeth had sent murderers to kill his family so Macduff got his revenge.
The witches corrupted Macbeth with their power to predict the future but if Macbeth had not acted on their predictions none of the events would have happened. The witches purposely tried to tempt Macbeth and it worked. Ruining Macbeth’s life was the witches goal because the purposely cause mischief.
