Leadership
Who is your leader A leader can be anyone that is important to you that guides you and persuades you into making goods choices and decisions that impact your life in a positive way as well as the people who you car about. To me a leader or person I look up to aside from my mother is my stepfather because he took me in when he married my mother and took and is taking care of me as if I were his biological son. My stepfather has the ability to have sympathy with people that he doesn't know or has known for a little while, as well being very respectful, kind, and caring. I would love to be able to have sympathy towards others but it is very hard for me to do so because I'm not able to relate to some of the problems or feelings that other people are dealing with. I would love to be a leader or someone that a person looks up too because it would give me a sense of accomplishment and assure me that I am doing something right that is inspiring someone to be the best they can be in everything they are doing. My stepfather is and will always be one of my role models because he accepted me as his son when him and my mother got married because he wanted too and not because my mom made him or pressured him into doing it. I will always be grateful for the things he has done for me because I know that he would do them again in a heartbeat if he had too because he is a very caring person and I wish to be like that when I get older.

The great leaders of yesterday and today have proved to be very influential throughout history. A leader can be defined simply as someone who rises up and creates a path for those who cannot do it themselves. Samuel Adams led the United States through the process of gaining the new country an identity. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. guided the black community through southern racism, and is responsible for the advancement of civil rights in the twentieth century. Susan B. Anthony was the head of the women’s rights movement to gain female suffrage. All of these leaders share something in common; for without the support of the every day people of the world, none of the three would have been successful in their goals as leaders.…

A dictionary definition of a leader is a guiding hand in a movement or group. My definition of a leader is someone who stands out amongst the rest and steps up to the task and helps the “followers” advance and strive to become a leader as well. The only way a leader can be effective is by leading by example. A prime example of this is Malala Yousafzai. She was shot in the face for trying to go to school. If she hadn’t gone to school she wouldn’t have been shot, but she also wouldn’t have a Nobel Peace prize. She is now using her story to speak for access to education for everyone. I am a leader. I have all the qualities that make a great leader, but I was not born this way.Experiences and how someone reacts to those experiences are what truly make a leader. One of the most influential experiences I have gone through is called the Lebanon High School Marching Band. I am certain that I wouldn’t be who I am today if it weren’t for marching band. Before coming to high school I already had leadership qualities, but band helped bring all those great qualities together and helped me get past my two major flaws: my lack of self-confidence and the fact that I was probably one of the shyest people you would EVER meet. When I joined marching band, I spent most of my waking hours sweating and suffering alongside wonderful people that I longed to…

Leadership is the capability of holding responsibilities over others and guiding them as a role model to make good decisions. They themselves should be able to make wise choices and have a positive outlook. I am a leader because I am the oldest out of six children. They all look up to me for guidance and I always have to set an example whether I am out of the house or at school. I also take care of them when my parents need to run errands. I have a lot of experience in telling my sisters they can not do certain things if it involves their safety, breaking of rules or is disrespectful. Respect is important to my family. We learn to respect our elders, parents and one another. If my sisters do something they were not supposed to do like color on the walls or eat junk food, I also get in trouble. It can be difficult but I have had responsibilities at a young age. Service, scholarship, character and leadership are all important and should strive to improve all…

“Motives are sometimes defined as needs, wants, drives, or impulses within the individual and are directed toward goals that may be conscious or subconscious.” (Hersey, et.al 2008) A working definition of motivation can be “giving a reason to act: the act of giving somebody a reason or incentive to do something” (www.bing.com) It is important to have a working definition of motives or motivation before creating a plan for it. Motivation or the motives of someone will always depend on the individual, their perceptions, their needs and their beliefs.
