Who Really Discovered America
The question over who really discovered America has probably been around since the beginning of finding America. It’s been dissected and argued over, probably resulting in a lot of tables flipped and broken noses. Honestly, I have no idea if tables have been flipped over this issue, but sometimes people take topics like this a little too seriously. If you haven’t put two and two together I’m discussing the issue over whether or not the Chinese found the Americas before Columbus. Gavin Menzies, claims that China, a giant powerhouse sent over 7,000 people on twenty-five ships to go conquer the countries of the world by their emperor. They ended up landing on California, Mexico and many other South America/Central American countries. Introducing plants, rice, animals, and many other things. There have been many ship wrecks found on the coast of California. One in Oregon was built of caeophyllum, which is a wood that is found unique to south-east Asia. There have also been plants known to be indigenous to Asia, found in California. The Cherokee Rose, also known as the camellia rose, is a rose that Chinese would carry on their ships to remind them of home. Menzies, decided to “go public” with all his research in hopes of finding more credible research. He and Dr. Furry of the Natural History Museum of Northern California went to local wrecks around Northern California and tested the sites using magnetometer readings. The samples, which were pieces of wood and a compacted 80lb mass of millions of black seeds, were from wood known as Keteleria and seeds only found China. Among the samples, they found rice and a beetle. Rice, native to Africa and China. Robert Finlay indicates that the shipment of animals at sea for months would be impossible. They would be malnourished, eaten, etc. In Menzies theory, he states that China is a world dominator and they united mankind, which is absolutely false. He also states that Menzies claims that Zheng He’s fleets established

The skills and qualities required of Christopher Columbus in order for him to lead a safe and successful voyage to undiscovered and unexplored lands weighed heavily on him, as he was initially placed in a headship position in the course of the planning of the journey because he originated and entertained the idea of finding a passage to China through unmarked waters. With his assiduousness and persistence, his appeal and intelligence, he was able to convince the King and Queen of Spain to fund his trip. These issues, along with the fact that he had never been a captain on a ship, began the fulfillment of a dream built on nothing. These steps taken were the foundation of what would be a great hero and leader.…

Indubitably, the acts made upon Indians for the sake of progress were atrocious. Brutal and cruel murders of millions of Indian peoples resound to this day. Their populations may never recover from such an incredible loss; the past can be ignored but never erased. However, we as Americans, celebrate Christopher Columbus day with joy. We think only of ‘The Founding of America’ and not by the means of which our country was constructed. To Indians everywhere this holiday is simply a remembrance of the murder, torture, rape, and enslavement of their people that last hundreds of years. So why do we celebrate such an insidious act? Because we justify the imposition of others for the sake of human progress. However is this tactic progressive at all?…
