John Calvin was born on July 10, 1509 in the city of Noyon, France. “He was the second son of Gérard Cauvin, who was secretary to the bishop of Noyon. It was decided early in his life that Calvin would serve the Catholic Church, and at the age of twelve he became a chaplain at the Cathedral of Noyon”.His nationality was French. John, as mentioned before, was a very important man also because he was a pastor (a person whom is in charge of a christian church or congregation).
He also was considered the most important figure in the second generation of Protest Reformation. Another reason he was so important was because he was the founder of Calvinism. Calvin was also a journalist, which is when “a person who writes for newspapers or magazines or prepares news to be broadcast on radio or television.”. John also had several quotes. For example one is “There is no worse screen to block out the Spirit than confidence in our own intelligence.” .
John Calvin was very close to church and religion.”John Calvin was a law student at the University of Orléans when he first joined the cause of the Reformation.”Calvin believed that “a doctrine holding that God chooses those who will enter Heaven based on foreknowledge of their good deeds.” He was so close that he even was a leader of a church. But this was never something different because even as a very young child he had something to do with churches and
religions. Overall John Calvin was very important and smart man who cared a lot about religion and church. John Calvin has made history in this world.We will continiue to learn about how important he was for several years.
