Who Was Louis Riel A Traitor?
Some people believe that louis Riel was a traitor, but other may say otherwise. For an example he saved his people of Red River from losing all of their land, fought for his rights, and was there when his people were in need of him the most. A hero is someone who fights for the right cause and that's exactly, what Louis Riel did.

One example of his heroism acts, were that when the Canadian Government sent surveyors to mark the land for their railway, This had cut of the meti land where they had farmed for generations. When the surveyors came across Louis cousins farm, he stopped them from coming any further. Because of this act he was able to get the government's attention for the better or for the worse.

Another act of his heroism was that after the first uprising occurred Louis Riel fled to USA so the canadian government won't trial him for the murder of Thomas Scott. There he rebuild his life with his wife and two children. Gabriel Dumont reached out to call louis riel for help, and louis said yes eventho he knew that it would be very dangerous for him and his family if he was to be caught. He did this by forming a government they had elected louis as leader. This government then sent out petitions after pattions. But the government would not listen to them. This had forced the meti to take up arms and fight for their recognition.they took up arms with First Nations a white settlers. When canada found out about this rebellion they sent around 600 troops against the meti. the battle lasted for 3 days and was later called the battle of botche. The meti ended up losing towards the canadian government. Louis was put on trial and then executed for killing thomas scott. Altho louis was executed he still gave the meti recognition for their land in what is now
