Thatcher did this in two main ways; by privatizing many government businesses, and by lowering inflation. Thatcher privatized government businesses because she believed that the government was too involved in running the country, and that government run businesses bordered on socialism. She put this into action with the postal service, and steel company to name a few, and in both instances, and many others, the companies thrived once released from the rule of the government (Margaret Thatcher: one policy that led to more than 50 companies being sold or privatised). By privatizing businesses, Thatcher not only boosted the economy, she gave more freedoms to the people instead of the government. Thatcher also managed to drastically lower inflation during her time in office. From the time she was elected into office to the time she resigned inflation rates had nearly halved (The Thatcher years in Statistics).
