Who Was Responsible For The Death Of Romeo And Juliet
Romeo and Juliet is a very tragic story of love, resulting in both Romeo as well as Juliet’s untimely demise. Although, one question remains. (There are actually several unanswered questions, but I thought that that would be a good way of transitioning topics.) The question being, who is most, if not entirely responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet? My vote; Romeo himself. Romeo, feeling a bit down on himself after having had his feelings for the love of his life, Rosaline, ripped to shreds, is trying to recover from that emotional sucker-punch. While having been down on his luck with already foggy intentions, he finds, yes finds another girl at the party, Juliet. It’s love at first sight, I suppose. He brings her to the back and kisses her, not even knowing her name. Romeo, upon taking Juliet’s hands, states “[I]f I profane with my unworthiest hand, this holy shrine, gentle sin is this: My lips, two blushing pilgrims ready stand, too smooth that rough touch with a tender kiss” (1.5.105). …show more content…

He is impatient, wanting to rush right into another relationship to replace the hole in his heart for Rosaline. No time was wasted. In fact, they are SO positive it’s love at first sight, they plan to marry in one day, no, three hours of knowing each other. While you could argue that Juliet is just as impatient as Romeo, she was not the one to decide to take his hand, was she? In fact, she attempted to resist before just letting it happen, stating “[G]ood pilgrim, you do wrong your hand too much, Which mannerly devotion shows in this; For saints have hands that Pilgrims do not touch, and palm to palm is holy palmer’s kiss” (1.5.110). So it would be unfair to say that Juliet is equally as responsible as Romeo, as he is being the forceful one

Who is to blame for the deaths of these two young adults? Romeo and Juliet is a tragedy written by William Shakespeare ending with the deaths of two star-crossed lovers. Many events occur that lead to their deaths. Also, many characters have performed specific actions that push these two lovers closer towards their death. In my opinion I believe the Friar is most to blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. The Friar agrees to marry the two, he helps Juliet plan a fake death, and lastly Friar never informed Romeo.{{As the last sentence of your introduction, you need to address the prompt directly. Romeo is the one to blame, the most for the deaths of himself and Juliet. While telling Friar Lawrence about Juliet the friar confronts him, because of the switch from Rosaline to Juliet. Romeo states, “with Rosaline, my ghostly father? No./ I have forgot that name and that name´s woe.” (2.3.45-46). In saying this Romeo proves that a young male might think he is in love but once a girl more beautiful than the last comes along, his heart are as his eyes. This all proves that Romeo is to blame for all of the chaos that came from his “love for Juliet”.…

I believe the people in Romeo and Juliet’s lives helped cause their death. One person who helps cause their death was Tybalt. I think he helped cause their death because if he would have stopped trying to fight Romeo, then Romeo wouldn’t have killed him. If Romeo wouldn’t of killed him, then Juliet’s parents wouldn’t of rushed her into marrying Paris, then she wouldn’t of came to Romeo’s father talking about killing herself. Friar Laurence also helped with their deaths because he is the one who gave Juliet the sleeping potion, which made Romeo think he was dead. These are the people I think helped cause Romeo and Juliet’s…

Shakespeare once wrote in The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet “The dashing rocks thy seasick weary bark!/Here’s to my love! [drinks] O true apothecary!/Thy drugs are quick. Thus with a kiss I die” (V.III. 118-120). Directly after saying this, Romeo takes a poison and dies in hopes that he will spend the rest of eternity with the one he loves--Juliet. Both Romeo and Juliet commit suicide because Romeo thinks Juliet had died so he takes his life for her, then when Juliet wakes up she takes her own life because Romeo has died. How our two star-crossed lovers died was never in question, but who is most to blame for their deaths, is. Many say that there are other people in the play that are to blame for their deaths. Juliet faked her death using a plan given to her, that is why it is Friar Laurence’s fault that Romeo and Juliet both killed themselves, and he is the one to blame.…

Death is and always will be a hard topic to talk about, especially when someone is to blame. In the play, Romeo and Juliet, written by William Shakespeare, many characters could take responsibility for the deaths of the young lovers, but who is ultimately to blame? In my opinion, Romeo is the main cause of their deaths. He rushed into marriage without thinking ahead as to what they would do or tell their rival families. He then got himself banished from Verona for killing Tybalt, and lastly, instead of moving on from Juliet, he killed himself.…

Although it seems unfair to blame the victim, I blame Romeo for his part in his own and Juliet’s death. To start of, he goes to the Capulet party with a bunch of his friends, even though it’s very clear to Romeo that he is not wanted there. When Romeo first hears of this party, the servingman actually says “and, if you be not of the house of Montagues, I pray…

For the second argument “Wouldn’t it be someone else's fault?” I do not agree with this question. I feel that the character that is to blame for Romeo and Juliet’s death is Tybalt. Tybalt caused the first domino to fall. Other people may have done questionable things but the Prince should blame the guy that started it. If two people were in a fight who would get blamed, the guy that started the fight and threw the first punch, or the guy with a black eye just because he threw the second punch to defend…

    Blame For Romeo's Death

At the end of Romeo and Juliet both characters end up dying due to a chain reaction of events and decisions. The one person who I believe is most to blame for the death of Romeo and Juliet is the one Romeo risked his life for, and she is none other than Juliet the Capulet. First of all, she is the most responsible for Romeo and her self's death because she took the potion that Friar Lawrence gave when there were many other options. The next reason is that she put too much trust in Friar Lawrence's plan to bring Romeo and Juliet together. The last reason I believe she was to blame was that she was the one that tricked Romeo into doing all these things for her in the first place. For all these reasons I believe Juliet was the leading cause in hers and Romeo's death.…

Imagine if your own father or someone that you look up to acts as a irresponsible role model and gives you bad advice. Likewise, in the play, “Romeo and Juliet” by William Shakespeare, Friar Laurence is a father-like figure to young Romeo. Although an adult, Friar neglects his responsibility to guide Romeo on the right path. He gives Romeo bad advice throughout the whole play. This leads to the downfall of Romeo and Juliet. Friar Laurence is responsible for the death of Romeo and Juliet because he married them without their parents consent, he gave Juliet a dangerous potion to drink, and he left Juliet alone with her dead husband in her time of need.…
