The civil war broke out in 1642 after Parliament sent a long list of complaints to King Charles I. Charles and Parliament had never really got along (especially as Charles dissolved parliament for 11 year) and this was the last straw; war was on and the country was split in two Parliamentarians (roundheads) and Royalists (cavaliers).
Firstly it is parliament who sent the list who kick it off with the list and did not give Charles his tax for life, which will give him money for the rest of his time as king; therefore leaving him bankrupt and unable to rule the properly. Parliament also executed Charles’ main two advisers. Parliament is there to help the king not rule over him, as that is what they where doing to Charles, not giving him the freedom a king needs. How do they expect a king to live they way he was, being undermined by parliament, without fighting back.
On the other hand Charles does not make the right choices such as having a catholic wife who he should convert to protestant, which he could do if she didn’t control him or at least convert himself the is running a protestant country and upsetting everyone. The money he got he used on building a catholic chapel on his wife. He has also broken law numerous time laws such as no king can charge for taxes only parliament can do that and brought 300 solders in the houses of parliament. He is reckless and should be stopped. It is not fair to the people doing their jobs. He also only called parliament back, after dissolving them for 11 years, when he needed help that is not what a king does he is ruining the country.
In conclusion it is plain to see that Charles was the one to influence the war by being dramatic and over reacting (as usual) and if he would just take the constructive criticism on the chin and attempt to work on his bad points like every other person this would not have been an issue.
