Dyslexia sort of got her where she is today in life. Some people just do not realize what she has gone through. It is hard to know whether or not people have dyslexia. In school Golberg needed a lot of extra help she was really struggling. She struggled the most with reading school had gotten really hard for her to understand. Whoopi’s teachers thought she was mentally challenged. No one really knew that it was actually dyslexia, they just thought it was some mental disorder. She was sitting with a bunch of friends at a table and they were talking about names. Her name was just sort of like a dare and after that it just stuck as Whoopi Goldberg (Blue 15). In Hollywood there is the stars on the Walk of Fame in 2001 Whoopi Goldberg’s was added (Lobb 87). Comic relief is a fundraiser for the homeless.
