Who's Worthy If Immigrating Here Summary

According to the the article “Who’s Worthy if Immigrating Here?”, by George F. Will, there are about 80 million immigrants living in the United states. These 80 million people have created debates on whether they are Americans or if the really should be. The divided views on who is an American and what it should take to become a citizen shows what America is.
The different views on immigration creates a lot of tension around the subject. There are many people who do not like immigration but there are many people who appreciate them because they help with a lot as is shown in the article about immigrants helping with the cleaning of 9/11. To stop illegal immigration the U.S. has increased security in airports and on borders but not a lot has changed. One solution to this problem could be to look at why people want to immigrate to
legally then you are not a citizen. One of the debates lately is that the government could change what a citizen is and make everyone in the U.S. a citizen. In the article, “Why Americans Won’t Do Dirty Work”, it shows that illegal immigrants are willing to do jobs that pay under minimum wage. If the U.S. were to legalize these people then a lot of them would get fired and a lot of businesses would struggle since they would then have to pay those workers minimum wage. Also legalizing these people would encourage more people to immigrate to the U.S. and there would be a huge increase of population. There is another solution to making more people happy and more prosperous, and that would be to make the process of illegal immigration easier. Many people, as is shown in the video “30 days”, need to come over to the U.S. because they are barely surviving in their country, and they don’t have the time nor the money to come over
