“I never understood the relation of a man, his desires and the God.”
He kept looking at me silently. I said “A man’s 80% wishes are un-necessary, permissible and innocent. And if ALLAH fulfills them, although He has no problem in doing it, but these files of desires keep dribbling from table to table and from the office of one person to another”
I looked up at his face. It was silent, appeasing and smiling. I continued “For example, a student does the hard work and also prays to ALLAH for his success, but he fails instead. For example, a patient gets himself operated by the best doctor in the city and with that prays to ALLAH to heal him’ a business man opens a shop in the main market and prays to bless his business’ a young man wants to marry by his choice’ a job less man applies for a visa’ a players practices for a whole year’ parents send their children to high class educational institutes’ government employees save each penny for their whole life’ a hungry man wishes for food etc’ but Sir their all these wishes never come true. The patient dies asking Him to get cured, a job less man grows old applying for a job, the student despite of his intelligent mind fails instead. Why Khawaja Saab? Why ALLAH does not fulfill their permissible wishes? What is the expedient in it?”
He smiled and spoke after a little while “Your reason to blame is right but there is another motive in it.”
He stopped for a while and then spoke again “to explain this motive, I would like to give you a parable. You must have seen young children. Many times they wake up at night and cry so that their mother can feed them. But the mother, despite that the milk feeders are nearby, don’t give them. Similarly an ill child would time and again ask for prohibited foods but parents don’t listen to them. They wish to run on the road, to play with the knives. But the parents turn down their all requests. Why?”
He looked at me but I remained silent. He said
