Why Am I In College Or Guaranteed?
Guaranteed? Why am I in college? A question that I asked myself as soon as I walked on my college grounds. Sometimes my answer is “I have to” or “I want to be able to obtain a well-paying job”. Well, although these are two totally different reasons, they still share one commonality, which is being successful. We all have different methods or ideas of how we can achieve this goal, but personally, I believe that achieving success after college all depends on the path you choose to take. This path, in my opinion, should be pursuing a broader education. Sure, success may not be guaranteed, but making sure that this is the least possible outcome by the end of your college year can be guaranteed. Therefore, I continue to strive in college …show more content…
There are numerous occupations where employers emphasize “the ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing” (Ungar, 2016). Meaning that communication is something that employers look for when considering potential employees. Communication is a skill that can be obtained in many ways, but in my opinion, the most effective way is by broadening your education. It was my public speaking class that played a part in me communicating in a more effective way, but for others, it can be a business class, an art class or even a music class. This class allowed me to view how others communicate with various areas of study and how I could incorporate this into my life and even on a future occupation. Whether my future occupation consists of actuarial sciences, accounting or auditing some sort of financial document, communication will play an important part in all these potential occupations. Personally, I believe that communication bolsters future success as it allows students to receive and give off information at a higher level through building a connection with …show more content…
With a major in management and minors in art, environmental science and accounts, this sparse background can display my versatility and how I can incorporate these skills on a job and open the door to possibilities I didn’t think was plausible. My perspective on education has changed for the best in my opinion because before attending a Liberal Arts college I intended to major in Mathematics with minors in accounts and economics, which I thought at that time was the right path for me. My path was changed because of the exposure I had to various areas of study that made me realize that I was not doing what I should be doing. Although I am still a freshman, there are numerous opportunities available to me simply because of my backgrounds such as the summer camp internship program for people with a major or minor in environmental studies and an internship at Arvest bank due to my background in accounting. Career opportunities can possibly be created in a variety of ways but based on my experience a broader education can lead to more opportunities being created and can easily be initiated by taking that class you never thought you would

Crooks is isolated because of color and his disability. He is physically divided from his fellow co workers and lives in a separate bunkhouse. His loneliness forces him to acquiesce when Lennie tries to make a decent conversation with him. But when Lennie fills Crooks in about the dream farm place, all he does is laughs. It could be because he saw too many men say that but they end up working for someone or just simply ended up in ditch. Crooks is understandably cynical and shows apprehension about how others treat him in return. He cannot see beyond the preconception he has always encountered in the past. Ways that Crooks copes with his seclusion is by reading books. The other guys can't read but he can which gives him a huge advantage of…

Though one wouldn’t think it, Germany wasn’t the only country guilty of having targeted an entire race of people. Though definitely not as extreme as Germany’s actions, the US was also guilty of this act, having targeted the Japanese American people after Japan had bombed Pearl Harbor. Arresting potential ‘spies,’ forcing people to move, and putting them all in camps were the main things the US had done to the Japanese people. In the book When the Emperor Was Divine written by Julie Otsuka, this event is shown through the eyes of the Japanese people as they go through this. Though many themes are most likely prevalent in the story, the one that sticks out the most is that an entire races fate should not be determined by one event.…

Communication skills include face to face conversation, telephonic conversation, interviews, group discussions, meetings, speeches etc. Communication is an exchange of facts, ideas, opinions or emotions by two or more persons talking to each other and understanding. Communication is only successful when both the sender and the receiver understand the same information because of the communication. By successfully getting your message across, you convey your thoughts and ideas effectively. When not successful, the thoughts and ideas that you actually send do not necessarily reflect what you think, causing a communications breakdown. Being able to communicate effectively is therefore essential if you want to build a successful career.…

Believe it or not I have not always been as bright as I am now. There was a time when I was the kid who struggled in many of his classes, not the one that people went to for advise on a subject. I hated school because it was extremely hard for me. I was born on May the 11, 1994 in Nashville tennessee. I came from a well to do family and when i was of age was enrolled into private school where i spend the rest of my schooling up through high school. It was evident at an early age that there was something different about me. the first sign was my speech impediment, for the life of me i could not say the letter S every sentence i spoke was a struggle. Then it was reading and spelling. I was behind most of the other kid in both, I read slower and could not spell the same level words as the other kids. It was so bad that in kindergarten i was made to repeat it. Then came elementary school which went much better then preschool had gone, but i still struggled with things. Then in the third grade my parent took me to get tested to determine my mental ability. That is when i found out i am dyslexia. dyslexia is a learning disorder characterized by difficulty reading, spelling, and in young children affects there speech. This was devastating to me, because as a third grader all i wanted to be was normal, and at the felt like people would think i was retarded. through all of this my parents only encouraged me, telling me that i could overcome this setback. That is exactly what i set out to do. Starting in the fourth grade every afternoon i would leave school and go straight to tutoring at the learning lab. I hated this because while all my friends were playing at home i was studying but i knew that it would be worth it. My parents also made me take adrenal which i thought was super embarrassing and i can remember to this day hiding them in the cracks of the table or under my chair so i would not have to take them.…
