All in all, I am in college because I am unsure of what I want to do with my life and I am hoping that I will eventually figure it out while I am in college. I know that in this day and age it is very difficult to become successful in life without a college degree. Thus, I am trying to figure out what career path I would like to take and hopefully graduate and one day become very successful. I also want to have the enjoyable college experience. I want to be able to look back at my young adult years and see that I did everything I could to make those years memorable. Therefore, I am in college because I want to make the most out of my youth Additionally, while I am in college I should try to learn as many valuable life lessons as possible and as much as I can about my major. I should learn about responsibility because it will make my life easier and I should also learn as much as I can about my major because it will help me obtain a job.

Now, many might argue that college is the only way to secure a good job position and the only reason to get a degree. Jeffrey Selingo, a professor at the University of Arizona and the former editor of the Chronicle of Higher Education, writes that students and their parents prefer to obtain a bachelor's degree designated to a specific area; for example, the most popular today is business. That is why “students and their families, faced with big tuition bills, want to be sure to pick a major that leads to a job after graduation. ” (Selingo) That is to say, parents and students are worried that their investment in education can be wasted and hope to get a return in the future.…

When I graduated high school in 2013 I attended a community college in Pennsylvania for a semester. My thought on college in high school were “I don’t really want to continue my education for another four years”. That was until my high school counselor called me to her office seeing that I didn’t apply for schools. She explained that I wouldn’t be able to get a good job or ever own a house without a college degree, so that fear pushed me into continuing my education. My parents were the same way they also told me “most jobs would hire a college graduate over a high school graduate”. That was the final push towards the path of…

I want it to be memorable.…

After graduating from high school I didn’t think about going to college, all I wanted to do was work, hang out with friends and play video games. So at the age of 17, I started working for my uncle at his liquor store for about a year. Throughout that time I attained a great amount of skills; ever where from management to customer service skills. With that being said, I thought about expanding; maybe getting a job elsewhere that will pay me a higher salary for the skills that I have. I applied to Liz Claiborne Inc. in North Bergen, NJ at the age of 18 and got hired as a product coordinator. I was so excited; I was only 18 and about to start making a salary nearly equivalent to that of a college graduate. At this point I thought to myself; “wow! I don’t need to go to college to make money”. I continued working for Liz Claiborne but after three years noticed what I had as a career wasn’t what really interested me, nor something that I wanted for the rest of my life. I was really just doing it for the money. Then, that’s when I realized in order to obtain a career that I always dreamt of, that college was something that I needed to accomplish. I started researching and asking myself questions like “why am I going to college? What am I going to get out of it?” then came up with answers, “if I don’t go to college I most likely won’t have a career of my choice”. If I graduate from college I will have an opportunity of living the American dream; a beautiful family, an enormous house, and nice…
