What makes America Great

When I think about what makes America great, I think of opportunity, technology and unity. Since 9/11, I have come to realize just how lucky I am to live in the United States. No other country in the world has what we have. I will explain why I think that opportunity, technology and unity are three of the things that make America great.

We, in America, have many opportunities, many of which we take for granted. There are numerous job prospects in America and many opportunities to start your own business. We have the right to a 12-year education that gives us many opportunities and choices to make after graduation. There are numerous quality colleges and universities, which we can attend if we desire. We have the opportunity to elect who runs our country by voting who gets into office. Then we can make sure that they represent us and what we want in our country. We have the opportunity to state our minds because we have the freedom of speech. In addition, we can practice whatever religion we choose and do it openly and not fear any punishment for doing so. Because of these opportunities and freedoms, we can express ourselves in many different ways. We can live life the way we desire.

In America we have much more advanced technology than most places in the world. We have a high tech army, navy, and air force to make sure that all Americans are safe. There are advanced computers with Internet access in most schools to ensure a good education to all Americans. We have advanced engines and resources of fuel to cut down on pollution and to help keep Americans healthy. We have much research going into medicines and ways to treat diseases so that people may live longer, healthier lives.

Unity also plays a very important role in America. Especially since 9/11, people have been coming together to help rebuild and reshape America. Many different sexualities, races and origins work together in America to make it a better place for everyone. Ever
