why an MBA?
A short-term professional goal I have envisioned is to become to obtain a MBA degree while worker as an Executive Team Leader at Target. My goal is to be able to manage both work and school at the same time and be as efficient with my time as possible. I would like to build my managerial career as at Target and eventually become a Store Team Leader within the Target Corporation, which is a long-term professional goal I hope to accomplish within ten years. Being a Store Team Leader would mean that I would have to manage an entire store, manage a team of 500 or more team members, act as a leader on duty responding to guest and team member concerns, as well as opening and closing the store and ensuring all Target property and personnel are secure. I believe I will obtain all these necessary skills from the MBA program offered at University of Redlands. Achieving a graduate degree at Redlands will help me have a greater fundamental understanding of areas such as management, human resources, finances and marketing related courses. With the knowledge and skills I will obtain with a degree I hope to maybe even one day start up my own Cupcake shop after I retire. My parents have owned and manage two small markets for about 10 years now. I have seen my parents struggle throughout these years due to the lack of education they have obtained. I believe with a strong educational background which I will receive from Redlands with help me develop the managerial and entrepreneurship skills I will need to be able to be a Store Team Leader at Target or even run my own cupcake shop.
Participating in an MBA program can provide invaluable information that would take years to acquire from professional experience alone.
