Animal Cloning is the process by which an entire organism is reproduced from a single cell taken from the parent organism and in a genetically identical manner. This means the cloned animal is an exact duplicate in every way of its parent; it has the same exact DNA. The role of animals in research is not only beneficial to humans, but to animals as well. This is because animal cloning done by scientists will be able to clone endangered species of animals. In fact, several wild species have been cloned already, including two relatives of cattle called the guar and the banteng, mouflon sheep, deer, bison, and coyotes. In addition, conservation scientists can now recover these endangered species to no longer be endangered. Therefore, animals themselves benefit from the result of animal …show more content…
However, animals that are used in research are treated well by scientists to carefully minimise sufferings of animals. Researchers will often use painkillers and anaesthetics when possible to eliminate pain on animals. Moreover, these days most countries have implemented rules and laws for researchers to abide when using animals for research. For example, The UK has gone further than any other country to implement thorough ethical rules when it comes to animals in research. The Animals Act of 1986 entrenches that any research using animals must be thoroughly considered in terms of any harm to the animals. This involves detailed examination of the procedures and the number and type of animals used. Additionally, in order to obtain best results, scientists have to treat animals humanely. Stressed or crowded animals may produce temperamental results. Therefore it is important for scientists to take care of the animals welfare issues. For example, providing clean food and water, suitable enclosure size, and temperature. In addition, animals should also be regularly checked by veterinarians to keep their health at optimum
