Net neutrality is the principle that all governments and Internet service providers should treat all data on the Internet as equal. They talk about how net neutrality has stifled the open market, and it interferes with the funding for bigger projects that could help to boost the high speed Internet infrastructure that other countries have enjoyed. On a global scale, the United State ranked as number 10 for the Internet economy. That means that they do have some areas for improvement.
Prioritizing the Internet
People who have argued for prioritizing the Internet or talking against net neutrality have argued that this does not ensure that top priority services, such as healthcare have a higher priority over sharing bandwidth pool with the public. While that is a great argument against it, the problem is that it can also be badly misused, and there is little promise that it would not be used for that. For example, it has recently been proven that Comcast throttled the bandwidth so that it steered people towards their video services, such as Netflix.
