Click it or ticket. We’ve all heard that saying, but does it help? Do people really worry about getting a ticket when they don’t buckle up? Millions of people across the nation choose not to wear seat belts even though it's the law. Seatbelts were invented with the intent to save people's lives. Since being invented seatbelts have reduced death during car crashes up to 50%. Most people don't see the many reasons why they need to buckle up. The first reason is, the law requires all passengers in a vehicle to be buckled up while the car is moving. If you get pulled over and you or any of the passengers in the car don’t have on their seatbelts you will get a ticket and have to pay a fine. That fine will go on your permanent driving record. Another reason to buckle up is it can save your life. When a person gets into a car accident, they can be easily thrown through the windshield, windows, or even sunroofs. Seats belts can prevent a person from being ejected from the vehicle during the accident. The last consequence is the effect it can have on your entire family or everyone you love. Most people do not think of their families when they decide not to put that strap on when they get in a car.
