The text Athletes Make a Lot of Money. And it's not OK by Jesse Edelman states "There are plenty of people who have difficult and dangerous jobs, and no one is handing them exorbitant sums of money." Furthermore, some examples of difficult jobs that aren't paid close to the amount athlete are paid are the armed forces, firefighters and police officers.
Men and women who run around on courts and fields passing a ball around are paid millions more than the people who save our lives everyday. As a matter of fact, the average income per year for an athlete is around $2 million to $5 million dollars. However, the average income for a firefighter, people who run into burning buildings to save our lives is only about $46,870. This means athletes are paid at least 1,953,130 dollars more than firefighters. How is it fair that we pay men and women who play games to earn a living millions more than people who save our lives
