Americans have become hypnotized by the trend of lawsuits. If an individual can find anyway to sue then a lawsuit will occur. David Zinczenko introduces this concept in his article, "Don't Blame the Eater." He states that many frequent eaters of fast food are beginning to sue the corporations because they are now considered obese due to the food served to them at the fast food restaurant. I am of two minds about David Zincenzko’s claim that fast food corporations are to blame for obesity in America. On the one hand, I agree that the combination of affordability and availability vs. healthy alternatives and the lack of nutritional information and have been considered a major cause of obesity in America. On the other hand, I’m not sure if the…

Carmen Herrera’s future job outlook at Radcliff tech has many advantages, these advantages include jobs that will be easier to land and obtain than jobs she would land in a university, these jobs include many jobs in the routine personal services categories and many in the routine production services categories. Tech schools tend to specialize in jobs for production and personal services because the teachers and majors available to these students are limited in terms of what they are able to teach and the education of the teachers. Some tech schools are even more specialized to a certain field. For example a school like pennco tech is mainly specified for automotive, students looking for a mechanic certification would be interested in a school like this. Another advantage of going to a tech school is that tuition and fees are much more affordable compared to a large university. This makes tech school more accessible than the majority of universities. This makes choosing a major considerably easier than a university because the student already knows what they want to do most likely before they arrive at the tech school.…

My sister had done the same thing when she went to college, and it seemed like a respectable major. It didn’t take long for me to realize that while the business classes were challenging and had a whole new feel, they didn’t inspire me with a vision for a career. I began to scour the Undergraduate Bulletin on a regular basis,…

The factor that differentiates HCLAS from any other school in Hofstra is the liberty that is granted to each student that is part of it. HCLAS takes pride in this and focuses its goals to surround this freedom of expression. Students are asked to think freely of what they learn and come up with their own conclusions. Creativity is encouraged whether it is expressed in writing, painting or dance. In HCLAS, students learn to connect the material they are taught with their own lives and with the world around them. This gives students a better understanding of the reason for different works of literature as well as works from science departments. One of the goals of HCLAS is that students become observers and think critically about their surroundings. They must use these perceptions and be able to transmit them adequately. Learning the ability to communicate effectively is an integral part of HCLAS as each division requires that students can do so. The skills that students learn in HCLAS are not only helpful in an individual’s academic life. Thanks to what they learn in HCLAS, the transition from college to the real world becomes smoother. HCLAS aims to this because they want their graduates to be full rounded humans. One important goal of HCLAS is to get students to work in their field of study before they graduate. HCLAS feels this is important because it gives each student the opportunity to gain experience and to understand exactly what they are expected to do once they start working as professionals.…
