Why Basketball Is Important To Me
In the past, two or three years something that I took great pleasure in working on, other than school, is basketball. This sport is very important to me because basketball is something that is overlooked but it requires a lot of discipline, which helps me to train myself to stay in shape and to create a better wellbeing of myself. I do not practice to prove myself to anyone, I just know basketball is a sport that has stuck with me for a long time, and it is a sport that I never want to give up on. Every day for the past 4 years after school, I would come home complete my homework and then run to work on stamina. While working on my stamina I would stamina, there were a lot of times where I would just feel like giving up; however, …show more content…
For example, I would study people like Mayweather, LeBron James, Serena Williams, and Kobe Bryant.
Last, I would work on dribbling or shooting. I still continued to do almost every dribbling drill or shooting drill that I had seen a pro do. Sometimes, I would lose track of time and get lost in the moment of dribbling and practicing on my shot. The more time I lost, I felt as if I was getting better each time. The whole point of doing this everyday was to practice the stuff I am not good at. Once I got good at one thing I would start on another thing I could not do and I would better myself by practicing again until I lost track of time. I believe that I am a determined, hard-working, go getting type of individual. I believe that anything is possible for me to accomplish, if I put my mind to it. Attending college for me would be just like another drill that I would stumble at first at with challenges being thrown at me, but I would be able to bounce back and keeping trying at. I feel furthering my education is really important to me and also furthering my skills in basketball; for which is going to benefit me in the long

Four factors that limit the primate’s diet is plant defense, the reproduction status of a female, seasonality, and competition. Plants can use physical barriers to stop animals from eating them. For example, some plants will use thorns others will use certain substances that make digestion difficult, resulting in small quantity conception. Female primates who are pregnant require more calories, meaning they need to obtain more food. If they are lactating they require 50% more calories compared to when they are not breastfeeding or pregnant, according to the online lecture of Primate Ecology. Seasonality proves as a challenge due to food sources becoming scarce. Depending on their location primates may look at small sources that have calories that will help their dietary needs. Lastly, competition will occur when there is a small supply of food primates will compete. Once they begin to compete for the primate who cannot defend itself might not be able to obtain any food.…

Gallons of sweat trickled down my face while I seamlessly ran up and down the track. At times, I didn’t think I would get through it. It was an everyday struggle to continue my journey down the path of success. At practice, we would relentlessly run and run and run until our breathing neared nonexistent. I, for one, could barely keep up, but the fight inside of me did not die out. My coach would tell us that our meet was nearing and our will to win kept pushing everyone harder. We ran three to four miles a day with little to no breaks. He would yell motivational phrases to push us, but in all honesty, we just wanted to get back in our beds and sleep the day off. Although this is true, It became important to me to work to better myself and though…

Many people look at baseball and see a slow-moving game with a bat and a ball, but it is so much more than that. What they do not fully comprehend is the strategic and mentally challenging aspects of the sport that make it special and complex. Baseball is a game filled with life lessons. It teaches you how to have a strong work ethic, be competitive, control the things that you can control, make a plan, and, most importantly, how to fail. As the great Ted Williams once said, "Baseball is the only field of endeavor where a man can succeed three times out of ten and be considered a good performer." Everyone fails, and everyone is thrown curveballs in life, but baseball helps us react to those curveballs and hit them out of the park.…

I am very competitive so I am not going to stop until I am satisfied with the outcome. One can find my level of determination in everything I do. Being determined is not always about completing something first or being the best at something. It is about making myself feel accomplished with the outcome. Whether it is in sports that I am competing in or making myself get up and go to a class. Every time that I get out of bed and drive to school, I am shaping myself into a stronger individual that will be more successful in the future. I make myself go to classes because I am thinking about my future. If I bite the bullet now and take on all the hard tasks that get in my way I can have a more enjoyable life later. I am basically following in the footsteps of my sister. She is training to become a physical therapist. Becoming a physical therapist is not an easy task. If it was easy, anyone would be able to do it. I am fortunate enough to see the things that she did not do that would have been beneficial to her. I am able to better myself so that when I am in the upper level education courses, I will not have to fret as much as she does. I can prepare myself for the worst by taking on the worst now rather than later. This can either be for the upper education that I will need to partake in the future or the career that I will need to establish later in life. Success in building a healthy family and a…

I have many events in my life that helped me choose my goals, for after college, of becoming a teacher. Hunting, fishing, and sports are all immense parts of my everyday life, mainly on the way I was raised and the decisions I've made along the way. Many parents tell their kids at a young age that they do not have to follow what their siblings, cousins, leaders, or anybody else has done.…

The day I hit the field it's like no other feeling. I take out my sunflower seeds and begin crunching. The feeling of sliding in soft dirt, the freshly cut grass and the newly raked field. Also making amazing plays in the outfield. Crowds cheering my name, making chants and cheers. When it gets down to the wire and everyone goes quiet then I get the game winning hit to seal the deal. Since I was 7 years old, basketball has played an integral part of my life. I have devoted countless hours to not just a sport, but a passion, an outlet; to the game that I love. When I arrived at Bow Middle School as a fifth grader, my classmates and I would always look up to the 7th and 8th grade middle school basketball teams. Every year during winter carnival, the boys and girls teams would play a game in front of the entire school. Playing in that game became a dream and a goal of mine, but first I would need to make the team. For three years I developed my basketball skills, using my passion for the sport and desire to play in that game as motivation. When tryouts for basketball in 8th grade drew near, I knew I was ready. However a new coach would be at the helm this year. Our new basketball coach was also a coach for the youth football program. This resulted in numerous football…
