Why Books Shouldn T Be Banned

Out of the books on the list I have read: "Night" by Elie Wiesel, "The Kite Runner" by Khaled Hosseini, and “Things Fall Apart” by Chinua Achebe. All of these books were required high school reads, however, I learned about the immense oppression and immoral acts that were occurring in our society. For instance, when I read “Night,” I learned about the effects of the Holocaust on people and just how horrid it was. When I read “The Kite Runner,” I learned about the Taliban and just how vicious they were to innocent people. Moreover, when I read “Things Fall Apart,” I learned how badly women were treated in Nigeria. I googled the book, "Black Boy" by Richard Wright, in order to figure out why it was banned in many schools, a fact that the article stated.
Books are banned when someone makes a formal complaint about a certain book, which causes someone of power, like a librarian or principal, to remove it from its location (put it in the back of the library, take it out of the class room, etc.) Books can be banned for containing swear words or sexual content and for talking about people of color, religious minorities or
