Why Breakfast Is The Most Important Meal Of The Day?
Good morning to the principal of SK Pekan, teachers and students. I am Ridhwan Hanafi, one of the alumni in SK Pekan. I am here to present a talk on the topic “Why Breakfast is the Most Important Meal of the Day”, in conjunction with SK Pekan’s Entrepreneurship Day. The main purpose of this talk is to make you realize about the importance of taking breakfast, and how it affects positively on your overall health and academic performances. Before going further, I would like to share with you what breakfast actually means. Breakfast actually means to ‘break your fast’. ‘Fast’ means you don’t eat food, because during the night, you are sleeping and not eating anything (“Breakfast – A Great Way to Start the Day!”, 2013), hence you are considered …show more content…
However, how exactly does having breakfast gives you energy? Well, having breakfast could refill your body’s supply of glucose and it could give you some extra nutrition that you need (“Breakfast”, 2012). Glucose is another word for sugar that is inside our body (Norqvist, 2014), which acts as our body’s food source to give us energy. Therefore, having breakfast not only provides you with energy, it makes you less tardy (Zelman, n.d.) and happy to go to school! A study from Berkey et al. (2003) states that children who never had breakfast have lower energy than children who had breakfast nearly every day, and those who had breakfast reported that they had better quality of schoolwork. Having energy before going to school is important, because if you do not have breakfast you will feel drowsy and lethargic. What types of food gives you energy? Any food could give you enough energy to function for the day, for example whole meal toast, cereals, and eggs (“Breakfast – A Great Way to Start the Day!”, 2013). You can also have fruits and vegetables for breakfast like apples, oranges and …show more content…
An extensive research in Australia and other countries has also found that those who have breakfast have a more nutritious diet than those who do not take their breakfast (“Breakfast”, 2012). Even though you eat lunch and dinner but skip breakfast, you will still lose some vitamins and nutrients that your body needs to absorb during the

Firstly, I support the breakfast program because kids will have better health. For example, by eating breakfast kids have energy. For me, when I wake up in the morning I feel like going back to sleep. After hurrying to school and skipping breakfast I become distracted in class and my stomach begins to ache. However, with the breakfast program kids will come to school unstressed about missing breakfast and will be wide awake, full of energy and ready to learn. Adding the breakfast program will guarantee that kids maintain energy and succeed in school. Another example of why I support the breakfast program is because without breakfast you will develop a belly and/or become overweight. Without starting your metabolism early in the day, when lunch comes an issue occurs. Without breakfast you’re metabolism starts late in the day which will overall result in a very slow metabolism. However, with the breakfast program this obesity will not be an issue in this school district. The breakfast program will definitely help prevent kid and teen obesity.…

Teens think without breakfast they are losing calories but what they do not understand is without breakfast teenagers won’t have the energy to stay active throughout the morning or that later in the day they might eat enough to regret not eating in the morning (Jennifer Warner). There is a tremendous amount of research done on the benefits of eating a health breakfast not only for adults, but children as well. Researchers have found that when healthy, lean women skipped their morning meal, it raised their cholesterol levels and diminished their bodies’ sensitivity to insulin, a hormone that helps regulate blood sugar levels. In addition, the women tended to eat more calories on breakfast-free days, suggesting that over time, skipping breakfast could spur weight gain. Past studies have also suggested that women who eat breakfast,…
