Modern Thailand I think is a mixture of both worlds, with western values and Chinese style intermixing, wherever western style of parenting may be lacking in or seen as unproductive then the Chinese way's of child-rearing filled in the gap. However it is not to say that this improves the parenting method, just that every aspects of raising children are mixes of values from both styles. For example; a true tiger mum would never allow kids to do whatever they want, but only what she wants them to do. In Thailand this is not true for the majority, children still maintain high degrees of freedom, but it is still less than western's way of parenting. I feel this is a good balance between both choices, and in my opinion choices are the absolute best way to go about raising children. My mother was one such person who mixes both values as well. Although to be fair I did considered her to be a tiger mum at one point because of her overall strictness, but as it turned out that wasn't quite true, she was strict but that was for my own protection, most likely because I was quite a daredevil when I was younger. In all other times I had a pretty high amount of freedom to do whatever I wish, there are few things I cannot do, but often those are accompanied by a series of very good reasons, and I complied. Naturally I can not speak for others however, but from what I witnessed during my up bringing, there are not much differences in the way they raise their
