Everyone should share the same opportunity to receive the education they want, in their field.
Think of it, people who live in the lower class, who were blessed to get an education as it is, have the opportunity to get to an ivy league, but no scholarships. They have no way at all to take advantage of the opportunity and they would be forced to stay stuck in the exact same position that they have been in all their life. People value the rich over the poor just because they have power. They think if they will listen to them then they will get what they want, so the rich get babied and only the wealthy often follow an actual ivy league pathway. Imagine all of the extremely talented and intelligent kids that love in poor or lower classes that could change the world as it is for the better, but we don't give them the opportunity just because they cannot afford
it. Some reasons why people may be against me, and say that college education should cost money is because of things like taxes, and dedication. If we were to eliminate all fees and loans for university, that could raise taxes tremendously. People already complain about county payments to schools k-12, so how would they react, now having to pay for thousand and thousand dollar tuitions. Another position would be that since university does give high level education, people should just have to pay for it, like any good or service. If people have to pay for a nonfiction book that will give them extra knowledge about a specific topic, why should they not pay for an education that goes much more in depth and lasts much longer? It also will probably provide them a job which they will just receive money from so people may believe that it's too much granted to a person.
Another big problem with how much university costs these days is the impact that they have after college. The average bachelor's degree take twenty one years to pay off in student loans. Just think about that. Most people graduate college with a bachelors at twenty two or twenty three years old so imagine that they had to pay student loans for as long as they have been alive. That is what is happening to these young, and now middle age adults. Another factor here is that so many countries already provide free education to students. Germany, France, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Austria, and Belgium are just a few to list that are only in europe. I do not think that America is just last in the race of providing students a free or actually affordable education. I think they got lost on the track all together.
Even though there could be some financial costs, all university degrees should be offered for free all the way through phd. Everyone should have the same opportunity to get an equal education without discrimination of how much your family makes in a year. Prior students are also up to neck in student loans that they can't pay off for another twenty years, but some people may believe that it would cost to much to society and people need to be dedicated in what they do and should be willing to make financial sacrifices for it. Either way, no matter what, every person should have an fair access to education no matter how much they are paid.
