A College Education is important because a college graduate will earn more money than high school graduates according to statistics from The Educational Attainment in the United States in 2009. Average earnings ranged from $18,000.00 for high school dropouts to $27,000 for high school graduates, $48,000.00 for college graduates and $60,000 for workers with an advanced degree. (1.)
A College education will give you opportunities that wouldn’t necessarily be opened to a high school graduate or dropout. With a college degree you can choose the career area that you would like to work in, which could open more doors for you in the future.
A college education will help you in areas
such as more money, more chances at promotions, and makes you marketable for the future. It can also give you opportunities that maybe your immediate family couldn’t afford when they were growing up. I am the only one in my immediate family that has gone to college.
No matter how you cut it, more education pays. The data presented shows there is a sizeable economic return to going to college and earning at least a two or four year degree. The Bachelor degree holders who go on to professional schools have even more prosperous futures ahead. The difference in earnings between those who go to college and those who don’t is growing - meaning that post secondary education is more important then ever. Higher education opens up higher paying jobs., but also that there is a range of pay within jobs and that more highly educated people usually earn considerably more than their less educated counterparts in the same occupation.
