Two of the Same When people think of college they don’t picture the total cost. They just let their parents worry about the money part, so they don’t have to. But there are many people who have to worry about the cost on their own. Those people along with some of the parents have a hard time being able to afford the tuition. It is really sad that tuition is so high.…
Now, many might argue that college is the only way to secure a good job position and the only reason to get a degree. Jeffrey Selingo, a professor at the University of Arizona and the former editor of the Chronicle of Higher Education, writes that students and their parents prefer to obtain a bachelor's degree designated to a specific area; for example, the most popular today is business. That is why “students and their families, faced with big tuition bills, want to be sure to pick a major that leads to a job after graduation. ” (Selingo) That is to say, parents and students are worried that their investment in education can be wasted and hope to get a return in the future.…
Many people agree to disagree on college. There are plenty of people who do not attend college, and they find their way to the top. College gives you the extended learning skills that employers will look for when you're finding a job. The authors repeatedly express several statistics, including, “14 percent of people with a high school diploma make at least as much as those with a bachelor’s degree, and 17 percent of people with a bachelor’s degree make more than those with a professional degree.” This statistic also all depends on the major you want to pursue your career in. In a society where a college education is necessary to attain a job, people will pay any price to get a degree. Since 1965 government assistance programs such as FAFSA have made attending college much more simple for the working class. However, such programs focus much of their efforts on assisting lower income students and fail to contribute to students from middle class families. Middle class students or their parents are caught in a situation in which they must pay for all of their college funds, or they are put into debt from the outrageous amount of loans. Financial aid is based off of the parent’s income until the age of 25, but there are situations in which not parents are able or willing to pay for their child’s education due to the high cost of tuition. Complications of financial aid arise due to the lack of focus in financial assistance for students who come from middle class families. Due to the complications of the financial aid system students from the middle class are forced to choose cheaper schools, go into debt, or enter the work force, yet prices of getting an education are only getting higher. For middle class families options to pay for school are very limited, without financial aid or the funds to pay, a life of debt and worry surely waits.…

Another reason i would like to go to college is because it will help you learn skills before employment, this is because many college programs allow students to explore and industry before they are even employed.…
Having a college level education can make the life changing difference between having a job you love, and being forced to do something you don’t particularly enjoy for the remainder of your life. In addition to that, a college education opens several doors which have numerous benefits including better job opportunities, having a job you love or are pleased with, job stability, and earning more money. My college education will allow me to experience all of that, as well as acquire knowledge in my field and knowledge in things not directly related to my career of personal training. I am pursuing a college degree in order to make more money in the field I am going into; without it I would make a significantly less amount.…
Many people say that college is too expensive or it is not worth it but is that really true? You can do a lot without a college degree but it does help you build experience and for some jobs a college degree is required. One of the biggest reasons college degrees are worth it is due to the amount of jobs offered to people without a college degree is greatly decreasing. Everyday there are less and less jobs for high school graduates without college degrees. Another significant reason to why college is worth it is that your brain continues to develop in your twenties and college could aid in developing your brain more…
According to the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, “Student loans play a huge role in financing higher education, which is crucial to improving the skill of American workers. However, the burden of student debt is close to $1 trillion, and some have different requirements when being paid back.” With the increasing rates of college tuition, students are being required to take out more and more loans because they do not have the massive amounts of money to pay for it themselves. Though many students tend to have jobs in their high school career, most of them do not save anything that they earn. Even if they saved money between the time they can get a job, in which most places require the minimum age to be sixteen, and go to college, it would not be possible for there to be enough money to pay for college tuition out of pocket. Sometimes students cannot get a job due to the dedication to school and lack of time after extracurricular…
Throughout the United States, many young adults are piled with debt due to the excessive costs of a college education. Today in 2017, Americans owe more than 1.4 trillion dollars in student loan debt. In the United States, college is more expensive than almost any other country. Overall, it limits students abilities to reach their full potential. This impacts many families, even my own, from coast to coast. My family is middle class and I know there are plenty of families out there who have children that want to attend college, but are limited due to not being able to afford it. This is very significant to me as I see my older cousin, Katie, who now lives in Tennessee, struggle to even pay her bills as a high school teacher due to the amount of…

I am a forty year old mother of two, who has always felt that there was something missing in my life. I tried many different things like learn how to knit or exercise, but still there was something missing. Until one day I felt unhappy about my job I felt that I can do but of course I wanted to get paid. About five years ago I decided that I wanted to further my education so that I can make more money and be able to live comfortably instead of check by check. But for some reason every time I tried to enroll something came up. This past weekend I decided I’d go for it without giving it a second thought and here I am. I spoke to my family about it after I enrolled and was amazed at the response I received my husband said “Go for it babe” my children said (at the same time) “Go mom”. I felt good about my decision.…
