A bunch of squiggly lines is what cursive writing looks like to me. I believe teaching cursive handwriting isn't as necessary as it seems. Cursive writing isn't important because most technology doesn't need to use it. It's not used in common core and schools don't teach it after the second grade. Technology doesn't need to use cursive writing. When someone takes their statewide test, which is mostly taken on computers, they don't type in cursive. “Much of our communication is done on a keyboard, and the rest is done with print” (Polikoff). They normally stop teaching it after second grade, so soon after that, we started working with computers which eliminated cursive writing. It's really a useless skill. “Our school focused primarily on the new upcoming technology, and writing classes were replaced with keyboard lessons” (Spence). Technology has taken over the world and took away cursive writing. All of these examples prove how after second grade, cursive writing went away. Additionally, others believe differently. Even though I believe cursive is a useless hassle, others believe it's useful. Some people believe it's a faster way of writing, it’s more formal and appropriate, it's very useful for forms, for which a signature is needed. The only thing someone would have to use cursive for, is their signature. It may be a faster way of writing, but not everyone can read it. Others who don't write in cursive make high scores on the SAT as well. Anyone can do that. It also shouldn't be that hard to write just your name for an important form. In conclusion, cursive writing is a useless skill. It's just a bunch of squiggly and twirling lines. It may be useful to a certain extent, but I believe no one should have to write in cursive if not absolutely
