Most indigenous population has been removed from the spotlight of the Europeans. The Western world had become completely reliant on the slave labor they got from the Africans. Due to the fact that this had been going on over many generations the Africans and people of African descent have became the first thing to pop into the heads of people when the word slave is mentioned. Even while Europe had outlawed slavery by this time the Western lands had been in full force with slavery of the Africans. Throughout the English Colonies in North America Africans were doing all of the work that the Europeans did not want to have to deal with. Many major cities were built by slaves, many farms were tended to by slaves, and served the Europeans with any need they could be useful for. The fact that all of the slaves in North America and most of the slaves from the Caribbean and Brazil hailed from or had ancestors hail from Africa shows that the African population took over the term slave. There were other groups that were enslaved and treated poorly but none of their numbers could equate to what the Africans were dealing with. The African slave trade became such a huge deal because of the fact that they were taken from their land. The indigenous people could fall back on cultural nets while the Africans, especially 2-3 branches down, do not have anything to hold onto besides the fact that they were taken from their home and put into new cultures.
