Why Did Imperialism Cause Ww1

Why would you start a war? Would it be because of pride, or other people being different than you, or wanting others’ land? These two reasons are imperialism, when a larger (or sometimes smaller) force comes and takes over an area, and nationalism, the belief that ones that speak the same language, look alike,etc. should have their own independent nation, or a strong belief that one's country is top priority.. They were both major factors in a war that included countries from all over the world called the World War I (the Great War), but Nationalism happened to be the one that caused more of the chaos. Imperialism was and always will be a big thing the world. Because of it being such a big deal and everyone competing to rule the most land, it was a major factor in WWI. Germany had controlled less land than any of the major countries fighting in WWI. This caused them to get upset and want to fight more so they could start to control the lands of the losing countries. Proxy Wars were important, too. Nationalism was depicted in propaganda. On American propaganda posters, both genders were depicted rosy cheeks, Caucasian, and had blonde hair. They also depicted Germans as somewhat beetle looking. The nations involved used their nation as an identity. If you spoke German, looked German, and your great-grandmother was German, you were German. This was the same way with the other countries, too. If you looked the part and are a descent, you were automatically put into that ”group” whether you liked it or not. Nationalism is also the reason textbooks are relevant. Countries put their history in them so children in schools can know their history, also it “helped” tell them what they will identify
