Why Did Joseph Goebbels Use Of Propaganda
Dr. Joseph Goebbels is quoted as saying, “Even if we lose this war, we still win, for our spirit will have penetrated our enemies’ hearts (Snodgrass).” Goebbels never failed to inspire people with his use of propaganda. Many people in Germany liked him and believed that what he was doing wasn’t wrong at all. Joseph Goebbels had a very negative impact on the world and was linked to the death of many Jewish people. He worked for Adolf Hitler, used propaganda to influence people in certain ways, and essentially changed Germany and the world with his use of manipulative skills. On page 12 he writes, “Convinced more than that propaganda was a powerful weapon in the hands of an expert, Hitler appointed Joseph Goebbels head of party propaganda in April 1930 with the mission the centralise the Party’s propaganda machinery and present the Nazi’s remorseless march to electoral victory under the leadership of the Führer.” Knowing that Goebbels was an expert, Hitler made him the leader because he knew he could accomplish more and show people what he believed. Welch’s book also talks about the types of propaganda Goebbels used. On page 13, he explains that Goebbels had a weekly newspaper called, “Der Angriff,” which was made to attack political opponents and maneuver anti-Semitic feelings. He blamed the Jews for their problems and persuaded people to believe that with his use of newspaper (Welch). Joseph Goebbels also issued a decree that forbade Jews to enter German movie theaters and other buildings that hosted events (Simkin). This left the people no choice but to descriminate the Jews because they didn’t have the same privileges as Germans.
