Why Did Napoleon Fight In The Italian War
With his new position as the Directory, Napoleon became the chief commander of army in the Italian war. He won many victories and became the leader of northern Italy, which taught him many things about leadership.
A year after his victory in Italy, he went to Egypt which was ruled by England at the time. He wanted to attack the place where the English get most of their money so that they had to make peace with France. Although this didn’t work so well for him and 35,000 of Napoleon’s men were trapped in Egypt.
Soon after, many countries in Europe came together to fight the French. At the same time the assembly in France weren’t popular and there were rumours of a monarchy coming back. There were also ideas of putting someone in leadership
