Although the British army was the most disciplined, best equipped army in the world, with the most well-trained soldiers, the problem lied with the size of their army not being adequate to occupy enough territory in North America.
With the Americans at an advantage, being the "home team", the British were left keeping long supply lines to Britain and were unable to efficiently supply their troops and horses. The supply ship's journeys not only took 2-3 months, but they were also very costly.
