contact with one another.
Advanced units then heard about how the army’s came in contact with one another. Conflict then started to rise and so did the battle. By the end of the battle the Federal troops regrouped at the edge of Gettysburg. Meade’s army formed a three mile long line from Culp’s Hill and Cemetery Ridge to the base of Little Round Top. The Confederates led a six mile of around the Union’s location. General Robert E. Lee continued to pummel the Union. The Confederacy suffered a defeat from the Union. Abraham Lincoln called the Battle of Gettysburg “a new birth of freedom.” Lincoln was not very happy with the Confederacy and was furious with General Meade. This is what happened during and after the Battle of Gettysburg.
Model Outline
I put my model in a shoebox. For the ground part of my model, I decided to get grass because during the battle, the Union and Confederacy
fought on grass during the battle. I put in a rock wall and laid it fully across the shoe box because that is the space that they had between them. The next item that I incorporated into the model were the soldiers. I put the Union on the left side and the Confederacy on the right side. The soldiers were holding guns and spears in their hands and each of the soldiers were pointing at the opposing force. I then put a majority of the Confederate soldiers down because they had lost against the victory of the Union. The Confederate flag was held by General Robert E. Lee and the Union flag was held by General George G. Meade. The Union flag is basically just like our American flag now, red, white and blue but instead of 50 stars there were 34 stars. The Confederate flag a white border around it and then had a red background. There was an X that went through the middle of it and had a navy blue background and had seven white stars through the X. It was called the “Stars and Bars” banner until March 1865 when it became being called the “Bloodstained Banner.” I used glue to put together the rock wall. The soldiers were bought off of Amazon came with a variety of soldiers, the weapons, various cannons, and the flag for the Confederacy and the Union! I incorporated some horses into the model too. Since I am a horseback rider I have a lot of toy horses from when I began to ride so I used some of those. I really hope you enjoyed viewing my model and learned more about the Battle of Gettysburg from this presentation.
