Even though they had not yet entered WWII yet, they were enabling other countries at war by selling resources that ultimately gave countries like Japan the supplies they needed to make an impact on the war. At that time, America was just coming out of the Great Depression and their biggest concern was money. They were selling things like oil, scrap metals and other natural resources to all countries allies and enemies. They were selling these items knowing that there was a possibility that it could backfire and be used to harm them. It took a serious of actions from Japan to get the U.S to stop enabling the war. For instance, Japan attacked and took over the country of Manchuria in the fall of 1931, the territory was under the control of China before being forcefully taken over. The takeover of Manchuria also upset the USSR because Japan had moved into their backyard and this territory was of strategic importance to them. In response to Japan takeover, the USSR sent military forces to the border of northern Manchuria. They began criticizing Japan, the U.S followed in response to the Japanese increased aggressiveness by supporting the USSR and China because the U.S was allied with both countries. First, the government would create polls, asking the people what they thought of certain things associated with WWII. The A.I.P.O would ask the people opinions like, “In the present fight between Japan and China, are your sympathies with either side?” These polls were conducted by people going door to door asking these questions and recording the answers that people were giving, this sometimes would persuade people to side with one side more than another, even if it’s not their true feeling. Not only did this giving the opportunity for the people to express their opinions but it also opened their eye up to things that were taking place, or to take. Another way that many people were enduring propaganda was through the newspapers by how they would word thing in ads and newspaper or on posters to promote agendas like purchasing war bonds, siding with allies or even to emphases how bad the enemies are. Lastly, were films that would be shown in cinemas all over the county the films would state negative facts on a large scale by putting fear into the targeted audience. Just like the time of WWII the new and now other forms exist like social media, making it easier for the government to get their subliminal messages across of terror by creatively worded headlines, articles, advertisements, bill boards, clothing, mail and I could go on forever with ways to get messages
