Why is it that when a book gets it’s own movie that there are several differences between the book and the movie? Some people argue that the book is always better than the movie. There is a reason for this. Firstly, in most book to movie adaptations small details are changed or are just not included. Secondly, the movie often takes short cuts and doesn’t touch on certain aspects that were described in the book. Lastly, when reading a book you are free to make your own subtext and fill in the blanks with your imagination. The movie adaptations of books have always lacked the detail that's in the book, some things are completely cut from the movie to maintain a well paced story, and it fills in the gaps for us making the experience less unique.…
When you read a book do you visualize the movie in your head? When books are turned into movies most the time the author’s message is ruined, and the integrity of the novel. When someone writes a novel they write it from their point of view, their vision, it’s their story. But when a director hears, or reads the book they see it differently and from their point of view. Novels become a different novel when turned into a Hollywood movie because no one visualizes the same characters, settings or themes.…
Ever read a book, and then seen the movie? The book is usually better right? That’s most likely because of the differences. The book is more descriptive most of the time. Events in the book are missing from the movie. Or the movie adds some in.…
Would you rather watch a movie or read a book? A movie and the book can be very different or they can be the same. For example “Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry” had many differences from the book and the movie. One example is the car that Uncle Hammer had in the book was a Packard but in the movie it was a Cadillac. Some of the stuff can be the same,Like the cities or towns.…
When it comes to either watching movies or reading books the latter is, by far, the better option. In countless situations books have been made into movies but in each instance the book prevails. There are many reasons for this but the strongest factor is imagination.…
Book vs. Movie Some people say that the movie is better than the book but is it really? In this argument I will discuss how the book is better than the movie. In this case the book “The Lightning Thief” is better than the movie because the book includes all fun and exciting scenes that help and make you use your imagination a lot more than the movie itself. The movie excludes characters that are important and some that are but, either way characters make the movie happen so they should be included they also make a better scenery.…
The book is more emotional and gives lots of detail. The movie gives you a visual of what's happening and skips the critical feature.…
A long time has passed since the idea that “The book is better than the movie” was accepted without question. Most of the time, if the movies follow an original script and there is no book version to compare it to, it is most likely to be seen as a great piece of work. However, when a film is present to be compared against a novel, it is inevitably not as great as the original work. There is also a limitation on films due to their format. A three-hour film is considered extremely long and lengthy, and most directors and filmmakers generally try and cut crop and edit out unnecessary and uneventful parts of a certain book to fit a golden rule of thumb that allows for movies to be about two hours long. Because a book adaptation is meant to tell the gist of the story, it is usually concentrated on making it possible to grasp the overall plot in one sitting.…
One thing in particular that the book does much better is making use of complex metaphors and themes, such as: the river for life, and oneness with nature, that string themselves together as you turn each page of the book, while in the movie the metaphors and symbolism are represented in a much different way through picture. In the book, both themes regarding the river are very vivid and clear, as they use strong imagery of nature to draw pictures in the minds of the readers. In the movie both themes are represented and referred to much less because of the lack of narration.…
Have you ever read a book, and then they were going to make it into a movie? This happens many times, it is one way to get inspiration for the movie process. The trouble is, they don’t always transfer the same over to the big screen. As an audience, we tend to compare the two, and decide which one we would recommend, either the movie or the book. For the most part, the difference between the two are just minimal details that they decided were not needed.…
Why I think the moviemaker chose those difference between the book and the movie was because in the book there was a narrator to tell you specific things. The narrator is there to tell some background information and make sure you get a better grasp of what’s taking place. So I feel as if in the movie they wanted you to pay closer attention to what was happening. And you have to have some differences between the two. While in the movie you can see more action and can sometimes explain things better by acting out, rather than being written out.…
To illustrate I have watched movies after reading the book and have been very dissatisfied with the results. When reading a novel I can use my own imagination to follow the story as the author describes each scene, and when the movie is made the author does not make the scene according to what I see, feel, and think as I read the story. This…
The PBS article of film adaptation points out the difference between written text and film and the struggle of adapting a book into a film. Books have a widely known imagination because of the narrator and how he or she writes the story. We create the picture on what is going on however, in film, it takes away your visual and shows the picture. Films mostly rely on the Director and it comes from their point of view and their take of the story. Also a film is limited to a two-hour show, while a novel came use as much time to show more detail. Most films have a different story, sometimes a different conclusion to what is going on in the book. They make it Similar to the audience and more shorter to make it appealing than the long book. As…
A book can get the message across much easier than a movie can. In a book you can write down what the characters are thinking, feeling, and etc. While in a movie, you can't…
YOUR ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER Your actions are more important than words because they show proof about your beliefs. People may talk many words but what they show is what matters the most. For example, an “I love you” straight to your face can make your day but if it is followed by a hug then the individual can actually feel emotion .…
