Why Do Catholic Women Have Abortion
Catholic women all over the world are faced with the tough decision of ending their pregnancies for many reasons. It is usually something they are ashamed of and would want forgiveness for. The Catholic Church is known to consider abortion murder, a sin. For this reason, the consequence that women who have an abortion have to pay is usually excommunication from the church. Pope Francis mentioned that he would allow all priests to forgive women who want the church’s forgiveness and want to seek absolution (Miller). I believe that the Catholic Church should forgive women who have had an abortion and regret their decision because we are all human and we all make mistakes. There are several reasons why I believe that women who have had an abortion …show more content…
These people would most likely mention that Abortion is murder because according to the fourteenth amendment no citizen should be deprived of life (“14th Amendment). Abortion is acting against the will of God because God made us all in his own image and likeliness and having an abortion is basically attempting to destroy his work. Finally they would most likely say that abortion usually brings regret to the women who do it. They might even argue that women who have abortions usually end up living in regret and shame of being the ones that made a decision that ended a life, which could have been very much prevented (Melton). However, I believe that the opposition is mistaken on all of these …show more content…
Abortion is not actually considered murder, because it is legal in the United States. Even though some states availability varies, abortion is legal and if it were murder women would be sent to prison instead. Also, God made us all human, we are not perfect like him and that is why the world we live in is not perfect as hard as some of us want it to be, it is okay to make mistakes and to later realize that the decision made was wrong. Most of these women realize that what they did is wrong, and that is exactly why the church should be there for them when they are ready to ask for forgiveness and to guide them in the right path. Women who have abortions will usually regret it and that is not a bad thing. Regretting having an abortion is a good thing because the feeling will most likely make them to never do it again and to seek help when faced with decisions like that in the future. Just like Pope Francis mentioned, these women live in pain because of their decision and the priests should be allowed to take this pain away from them or at least alleviate it

First of all, abortion has a much closed relationship with religious beliefs. There are many different religions in the world such as Christianity, Judaism, and Buddhism. The most common religious belief in the United States is Christianity. According to the Bible, there is a quote tell us that abortion is an unrespectable action to the God. “You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonder-fully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous - and how well I know it.” (Psalm…

Abortion can be considered as murder, as the baby has a heartbeat and is a living creature. “At conception, we have a human organism, a human being. We do not have a baboon organism or a chimpanzee organism or an elephant organism” (Pasquini 5). This is killing an innocent living human without it having committed any crime. The idea of legalizing a process in which a baby has to pay for the mother’s mistake or be punished for simply being alive is one that is hard to fit into the mind of many. The baby shouldn’t be the one to be blamed for irresponsibility. Normally when a human life is taken from them, severe punishment is enforced and the result can even be death of the person who committed the murder. Abortion should be no different because the baby is as much as a human as anyone else on…

The kid would have to be guilty, there was enough proof to prove he was guilty. The kid should be guilty because there was so much proof that he was guilty that its ridiculous. If the kid wasn’t guilty he could have had so much evidence to prove he wasn’t including the pockets that had the hole in them or the movie ticket he had when he watched the movie at the theaters. He didn’t have the movie ticket so he couldn’t prove he was at the movies at the time of the killing. He didn’t have the pants or whatever he was wearing that had the holes in the pocket to prove he lost his switch blade in there.…

Most of these supporters though are Christians or solid follewers of God who believe that abortion is considered murder, which would in fact make it a sin. Though there is no quote taken directly from the Bible stating that abortion, or the termination of a birth, is a sin, the Bible does state that murder of a person is a sin, and an unborn is a person. Several of the pro-choice debaters who use religious word to accomidate their debate use these laws from the Bible to illustrate how abortion is injust and a sin in the eyes of…

There is no reason to punish an unborn child, just because they are unwanted. Especially for the reason that most women, are with complete control of their body; meaning they could prevent any risk of the unwanted pregnancy. So just because the women made the mistake of having a baby she didn’t want or couldn’t take care of, doesn’t mean she should put the burden of that on a unborn…

    Issue Proposal on Abortion

As a catholic-born child, I was brought up with very strict rules laid out before me that would help me with choices such as the holy sacrament of confirmation and marriage to the very controversial choice of abortion. Since I’ve been Catholic all of my life, I am a firm believer in the pro-life choice, which is advocating full legal protection of embryos and fetuses along with high opposition to the legalization of induced abortions. A baby is a baby is a baby. Whether it is an embryo, fetus, or almost a full term baby, it is still considered life. That is how I like to view this topic. This semester I plan to research why abortion is morally wrong and should be illegal. Although I feel this way, I also want to establish that there are a few exceptions in my book that would be considered lawful if a woman was considering aborting a life. Exceptions such as saving a woman when she is in danger or when she is a victim of rape or incest should be considered and ultimately allowed because in order to keep evolution going, a woman must be alive. In some cases, doctors believe that removing the fallopian tubes or performing a hysterectomy, knowing the embryo or fetus will die, is justifiable because otherwise, she would be certain to die. Since there are laws that separate church and state, I cannot and will not base my reasons solely on my religion. Moreover, I will dig deep and find facts on more reasons and examples as to why abortions are morally wrong and should be illegal.…

Then there are those who believe women should have the right to abort or carry a child to term are Pro-Choice. They believe the mother has the right to choose if the fetus is a living being according to the circumstances in her life. I feel that if a female is sexually active, at this point in her life she should know the potential end result of not protecting herself. Too many women become pregnant and choose to have abortions based on how the child may impact their lives. The fear of facing financial problems, having to deal with relationship issues or just not wanting to be a single mother has been a few of the reasons given for making this choice. I feel these reasons are wrong, as I stated earlier, from my perspective abortion is like murder. We are killing innocent children who do not get a chance to experience life, based on someone else’s choice. Women who engage in unprotected sex knowing they may become pregnant and decide abortion is the answer are not accepting the responsibility of their actions. By having an abortion, we are denying the mother the opportunity to raise the baby and usually this ends up hurting her emotionally at some point in her life.…

It’s never fair for someone to suffer from another’s lack of responsibility for their own actions. Many circumstances can apply to such a statement, and abortion is not limited to that. Abortion is murder, it violates the civil rights of an unborn child, not only that, it is a violation of God’s plan for others. Some babies die by chance, although none should ever die by choice.…

Although some religions oppose abortion under all circumstances, many religions recognise the different factors that influence a woman’s decision on how to proceed with a pregnancy and teach that there are some instances in which abortion is acceptable. Is Abortion Morally Wrong

Some will say the aborted are not alive a fetus depends fully on the mother unlike human beings. Many say that if a women is having sex she should be responsible for being responsible for her actions. In reality by making the choice to have an abortion may be the most responsible choice for the mother bringing a baby into the world and not taking care of it is worse than having an abortion. In Kent’s Ethical Theory it states that if it is a self-contradiction or a contradiction of the will, you have a duty (perfect or imperfect) not to act according to that maxim. With that being said women who are raped should have abortions. Living with the guilt of being raped and having a living reminder of that vicious act is not fair to the victim. This also ties the person who raped the mother to the mother making them part of their family that in no way is fair to the mother or the baby. Using situation Ethics and staying on the topic of rape you could say that abortion is evil but may be the 'lesser of two evils' if a woman has been raped, abortion may be an act of love. If a mother is just unable to care for that baby or love it then what’s the point of having one and hating it or despising its existence. The mother might be trying to save the baby from a life that she feels she can’t give the…
