She said that her plan was to have students from low-income families (income less than $125,000) not pay tuition fees at in-state four-year public colleges. She wants to make sure that schools invest in providing a better education and that they will be more responsible for the level of education and for controlling the cost of tuition. Other candidates have different opinions on this issue. For example, Gary Johnson does not believe that colleges should be free and that the high cost of college tuition is already balanced with government student loans. Donald Trump also thinks that there shouldn’t be “free education” because eventually, someone will have to pay for the missing tuition, but he will try to lower interest rates and extensions for student loans. Jill Stein’s goal is to guarantee tuition-free, world-class public education from preschool through university, but she has not proposed specific and thorough plans like Hillary Clinton’s. Hillary Clinton’s stance speaks out to me the most because while some students are very smart, they cannot afford the money for college and can’t attend. Some students also aren’t able to pay back the loans in time due to their personal circumstances. Furthermore, this is also very important because I will be applying to colleges in four years and I also want to be given an equal opportunity when I am applying to colleges in California, regardless of my family’s financial situation in the future.
