Why Do Individuals Lack Critical Thinking Skills

I agree that perhaps the reason individuals lack critical thinking skills, is because they have not been taught the skills required to do so. I completely agree, that critical thinking skills are learned and that it is not common sense. All throughout school in fact, we are tested on our critical thinking skills and we are taught different ways to apply them in given situations. I agree with you that many biases would not be as common if people actually used their critical thinking skills. Often individuals jump to conclusions and rarely use rational thinking methods to reach conclusions.
