Why Do Movies Follow The Hero's Journey?
The Wizard of Oz, The Hunger Games, and even Finding Nemo have all one thing in common, they all follow the Hero’s Journey. That being said, many of the movies created to this day base their movie off the hero’s journey. Leading towards why I think that many movies do in fact follow the hero’s journey basis. To clarify, when you see a movie can you think how the actions in the movie relate to many of the steps in hero’s journey. Explaining why I think movies do in fact base it of that. To describe how movies do follow this course, there will be explanations of the most well known movies and how they relate to the hero’s journey. Without knowing literature has been seldom following the same archetype, The Hero’s Journey. Joseph Campbell discovered that most stories follow this pattern which is why he dubbed it the monomyth. The “hero’s journey” motif, as Joseph Campbell, the acclaimed American mythology professor and famous author identified, has been present in all cultures since the first documented stories.
