At first the two officials were sad because there was no one to interpret their dreams. The scriptures say that Joseph took notice of their sadness “So he asked Pharaoh’s officials who were in custody with him in his master’s house, “Why do you look so sad today? We both had dreams,” they answered, “but there is no one to interpret them.” (Genesis 40:7-8. NIV) Joseph interpreted the dreams with God’s help. After a few years The Pharaohs too had a dream and needed its interpretation, but the only person that could interpret that dream was Joseph. Through God’s divine intervention Joseph interpreted the Pharaoh’s dream and he found favor with him. Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Since God has made all this known to you, there is no one so discerning and wise as you. 40 You shall be in charge of my palace, and all my people are to submit to your orders. Looking at Josephs story many times I questioned why God allowed someone to go through that particularly if they are innocent. But is through Josephs attitude towards the circumstances that I see the reason why. Joseph trusted the process and it did not change the way he felt about God, He showed integrity when he removed himself from the situation, “No one is greater in this house than I am. My master has withheld nothing from me except you, because you are his wife. How then could I do such a wicked thing and sin against God?” (Genesis 39:9 NIV). In addition, he also showed faithfulness to God and those are the two principles of leadership that I take from Josephs story. The perfect example of faithfulness was Jesus as the Bible States “learned obedience by the things He suffered” (Hebrews 5:8 NIV). God wants us to be over comers, strong and mature.
